This Old Hat

This Old Hat was photographed while on a trip with a friend of mine. An older cowboy was cooking dinner over hot coals in a halved 44 gallon drum. He used the blacksmith tongs to turn the potatoes in foil. He took his hat off as he cooked the meat and sat it on the old stool. I asked if I could photograph it, he couldn’t understand why.

Having spent a couple of days there, getting to know him, listening to his stories, I came home and wrote the poem. It was printed, as in the first image with the poem and photo side by side, framed at 3 feet wide and sent to him as a gift.

There is an opportunity to purchase this as the complete photo and poem framed at 900mm wide.
